ALGIERS – A measles and rubella immunization campaign has been launched Monday at the school establishments of primary and secondary levels in Algiers, said Algiers prefecture health director Mohamed Miraoui.
“The campaign which continues until 15th March concerns the schoolchildren aged between 6 and 15. It aims at reducing the factors of measles and rubella transmission,” the same official told APS.
Medical teams are being deployed at the school establishments to supervise the vaccination campaign.
Over 600,000 pupils from the primary and secondary levels will benefit from the vaccination campaign, said Lachab, in charge of school health in health ministry.
Health ministry had announced on Wednesday in a release the launch of a measles/rubella vaccination campaign in schools from 6 to 15 March 2017.
The vaccine which will be administered to the students is the RR vaccine prequalified by the WHO.
